Vidal</em> <p class="initial">I have been teaching a multiagent systems graduate class since 1998. Over the years the field has absorbed ideas and techniques from advanced artificial intelligence, game theory, economics, and other fields. These concepts now form part of a fundamental base of knowledge that all seasoned multiagent researchers are familiar with. Unfortunately, most of these concepts are unknown to the average computer science graduate student.</p> <p>In this book I am trying to present all the fundamental ideas, theorems, and algorithms that anyone who designs agent systems should be familiar with, along with some of the latest algorithms from the field.</p> <h2>NetLogo</h2> <p class="initial"> Throughout the book you will find pointers to many <a href="http://ccl.northwestern.edu/netlogo/">NetLogo</a> programs. These programs generally implement algorithms from the book or try to illustrate other ideas from the book. I have found that letting students play with these models allows them to quickly understand otherwise complex and non-intuitive results. I have also found that these programs often bring to light limitations in the original algorithms which were not highlighted in the original papers.</p> <h2>Comments</h2> <p class="initial">Clearly, the only way I can do this field justice is by receiving ample suggestions from you, the expert or even the new student in this field.
